A Taste of Migori, Reborn in Kansas
Our Delicious Story
Our journey started in the 1980s when Robert Kaoga opened the doors of Spendid Restaurant in Migori, Kenya. It brought together the bold spices of Nyanza, the coastal warmth of Mombasa, and the delicate touch of Indian flavors, and folded them into every plate they served. For two decades, their kitchen fed a town. Tender tilapia, slow-cooked beef, hand-rolled chapati — these were the dishes that made Kawaida Restaurant a home away from home for everyone who walked in. Today, Maureen Robert carries that same fire to Olathe, Kansas. Same recipes. Same spices. Same love for feeding people well. What changed is the address. What never changed is the soul.
